Board of Intermediate Education Karachi is an independent wing from BSEK , Board of Secondary Education and is responsible for conducting Intermediate or HSSC (11th, 12 th class )Part 1 and Part 2 while the latter shoulders the responsibility for organising SSC or Matric Exams for  (9th, 10th Classes).

BISE Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Karachi has been separated into two government bodies and BIEK was formed in 1974 and also affirmed and promulgated by Sindh Baord Amendment Act 20 of 1973.
